Footage from the match between Hayato Matsuoka and Daniil Ostapenkov shows the urgency of the situation, with players and officials rushing off the court after being instructed to "get inside the building." This incident, captured on video, highlights the very real threat and the need for swift action.
UAE authorities later confirmed that shrapnel had landed at the Fujairah Oil Terminal, not far from the tennis venue. They stated that their armed forces had intercepted a drone attack, thankfully with no reported casualties.
Players like Vladyslav Orlov, the Ukrainian world No. 268, described hearing jets and seeing smoke during his match. "Not very safe here right now," he said, capturing the tense atmosphere.
The ATP and tournament organizers, however, remained silent when asked why the first Fujairah tournament went ahead in the first place, starting just two days after retaliatory strikes on the UAE began.
