Starting with a hearty breakfast of blueberry pancakes at the General Store, the duo indulge in the all-you-can-eat offering, only to find that their stomachs have other plans. The shuttle ride to Grumpy Bear's provides a change of scenery, but it's back to the General Store for a lunch of chicken, bacon, and ranch wrap with avocado, a true hiker's delight.
While Boostie opts for a pack of beer, Starlight chooses soda, setting the stage for a fun night with their tramily. However, the early bedtime for everyone else leaves their beer and soda untouched, a testament to the allure of a good night's rest.
But the real surprise comes from Rawhide, who leaves a hilarious care package from his friend in the Aussies' tent vestibule. The goofy gift, too large to carry, finds its way into a hammock, ready to bring laughter to the trail family.
In my opinion, this zero day is a perfect example of the unique camaraderie and lighthearted moments that thru-hiking brings. It's a reminder that the journey is as much about the people and the experiences as it is about the destination. From my perspective, these little moments of joy and connection are what make the trail so special and memorable.
